All
progressive congress APC flag off campaign in central of Excellence, Lagos
state for its governorship candidate,
Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all other party flag bearers in the state this afternoon
at Sky Power ground, Oba Akinjobi way GRA, Ikeja the event was disrupt with gunshots
where Journalist, transport leader and
many others were seriously injured.
Lagos
tempo gathers that there is fracas between two groups of transport union, The
MC Oluomo of Oshodi and other group his excellence Governor Akinwunmi Ambode
was addressing the party loyalist and supporter when the first gun was fired and
cause panic among the crowed but the Governor assures them that the police are
in control but the situation got worse as sound of gun rent the air.
People
started running for there life as police to have be in gun battle with the hoodlums.
Lagos
state Governorship flag bearer Mr. Babajide Sanwolu could not address the crowd
as it was planned but rushed to take the vote of thanks.

Lagos State police command as declare Mustapha Adekunle
aka Seigo wanted arrest two other in connection to disruption of the APC rally
held at Skypower Ground, Ikeja, on January 8, 2019.
According to CSP Chike Oti the Lagos Command Police

“The said Mustapha Adekunle aka Seigo, an NURTW
chieftain, came to the rally with a group of people and were identified at the
entrance as supporters of the party .
However, at the tail end of the event, Seigo and his
group for a reason yet to be determined, violently engaged other supporters of
the party. In the ensuing melee, one MC Oluomo, another NURTW chieftain, was
stabbed and was rushed to EKO Hospital where he is currently recuperating while
two other victims of the attack were taken to the Lagos State University
Teaching Hospital for treatment. The crisis was quickly contained by policemen
at the venue.
It will be recalled that a few hours before the rally
started, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, held a meeting with the leaders
of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW ), ROAD TRANSPORT
EMPLOYERS ASSOCIATION and other affiliate groups where all the parties agreed
to eschew violence before, during and after the electioneering. It was
therefore surprising that a prominent member of NURTW would attempt to
violently disrupt a peaceful political rally.
In view of the development, the Command wishes to
encourage members of the public with useful information on the whereabouts of
Mustapha Adekunle popularly known as Seigo to report such at a nearest police
station.
Meanwhile, two persons have been arrested in connection
with the incident.”
The Nigeria Union of Journalists condemns in the
strongest terms the attack by gun
men on some journalists who were covering the Lagos State
rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos on Tuesday, January 8,
2019.
It was reported that those that were affected by this
attack were the group political editor
of The Nation Newspaper, Emmanuel Oladesu, New Telegraph correspondent,
Temitope Ogunbanke and Ibile Television cameraman, Abiodun Yusuf.
Also Mr. Tunde Arogundade of on behave of International
Press Centre (IPC), Lagos-Nigeria condemned the attack on Journalist and reminds
all political parties that the Nigerian Media Code of Election Coverage
obligates them to ensure the safety of journalists covering their activities
including campaigns.
“IPC therefore calls on the Lagos APC to urgently take
appropriate steps to apprehend the alleged perpetrators of the bizarre attack
with a view to handing them over to the law enforcement agencies for immediate
prosecution, also as provided by the Code of Election Coverage.
IPC calls on all journalists covering the on going
campaigns to keep themselves abreast of all safety measure. They should learn
to stay away from political activities where rival gangs engage in show of
force especially through display of weapons.”
